Features in iOS 11 Update

Table of Contents

Introduced on June 5, 2017 iOS 11 brings out a lot of incrementally added features and fix bugs. Rightly said by the Apple CEO Tim Cook that the update takes the best and most advanced operating system. And turns it up to 11 at the Worldwide Developers Conference.

This update comes with a lot of small and big amazing surprises and great features like:

  • Upgraded Control Center
  • Keyboard
  • Siri
  • Maps

Control Center

The best part about the iOS 11 update is the redesigned control center. Apart from some of the permanent buttons, you can customize it as per your requirements and usage.

It has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, airplane mode, media controls, brightness, volume, rotation lock, do not disturb, and AirPlay. Also, there are 18 additional controls that you can add to the Control Center for the ease of your use.

Keyboard

Another useful feature is the easy switch between the standard and single-handed keyboard (you can also choose the default option). It can be accessed by pressing down the globe keyboard button.

Siri

Siri gets a more human-sounding voice in the new iOS 11 update.

Now Siri can also translate between languages, you can ask siri how to say something in English, French, German, Italian, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish of which you will get a spoken and a written reply. You also get an option to type your questions to siri. Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Siri -> Type to siri, by which you will get a keyboard the next time you prompt Siri.

Maps

The addition in Maps seems more promising. The new lane-assist feature in driving directs you which lane you should be in for merges and turns. It also tells you the speed limit info. A setting in maps also allows you to enable the all-new Do Not Disturb feature while driving. (which helps you to avoid calls and texts while you drive)

In addition to iOS 11 you also get the one Handed Zoom – You can now double-tap on Apple Maps and if you keep your finger held to the screen on the second tap swiping up and down will zoom in and out. Useful while you are driving.

Flyover Mode – By Selecting 3D View in a  popular city and choosing the Flyover option  11 you can now fly over the city just by moving around – a kind of simplified AR.

You can enjoy these features on your iPhone once you update to iOS 11. iOS App Developers too can use these features to enhance their current app features. Our new apps are iOS 11 compatible.
