Apple’s Battery issue: Apologies flowing in from team Apple

Apple has apologized to its customers for deliberately slowing the performance of older iPhone models without the user’s consent. This came after facing eight separate class-action lawsuits in the US.Ttwo others in Israel and many criticisms coming from world over claiming that Apple did not have consent to slow their devices.

The company proclaimed to have intentionally slowed the performance  because, when their batteries wear to a certain level. They can no longer sustain the required current demanded by the phones’ processors. Resulting in the phone abruptly shutting down to protect its internal components.

A statement on Apple’s website said: “We have never – and would never – do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades.”

“Our goal has always been to create products that our customers love, and making iPhones last as long as possible is an important part of that.”

Apples Battery Replacement drive now going live in India.

Apple’s battery replacement drive for old iPhones has now gone live in India as well. Apple is offering the new batteries at subsidised rates for out of warranty phones. The offer is available worldwide till December 2018.

The eligible iPhones include iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Batteries costing Rs.5900/- are now available at Rs. 2000/-.

According to Apple, a replacement battery will return iPhone’s performance to normal when operated in standard conditions.

A major software update is expected soon

The company has announced that it will release an iOS software update in early 2018. With new features that will enable users to see for themselves if the battery’s condition is affecting their iPhone’s performance.

The software update is expected to extend the life of older iPhones. And also maximise performance of some system components when needed to prevent an abrupt shutdown.

Hope Apple doesn’t let its customers down again.
