SGL Labs is one of the three largest diamond certification laboratories in India, operating across 20+ lab branches in India and internationally. Their branch heads and head office executives oversee grading operations, client relationships, compliance documentation, and inter-branch coordination — roles that involve significant documentation, reporting, and communication workloads.

THE CHALLENGE

Before the training, we assessed the artificial intelligence capabilities of all 20 participants.

  • 65% of participants used AI tools occasionally, but they wrote basic prompts and received generic, not useful outputs.
  • 70% of participants copy-pasted content instead of uploading files, which caused a loss of structure and context.
  • None of the participants had used Custom GPTs, AI-powered workspaces (Projects), or document intelligence features.
  • 55% were starting a new chat for every task, re-explaining context each time — no continuity across related tasks.
  • Overall AI Capability Score: 19% across 9 workflow dimensions.

THE ENGAGEMENT

Eiosys organised a 4-hour in-person workshop on Foundational AI, covering: 

  • AI fundamentals — practical understanding through real business scenarios, not theory.
  • The CRTFC Prompting Framework (Context, Role, Task, Format, Constraints) with live before/after demonstrations.
  • Workflow applications mapped to their roles — lab report summarization, client communication, compliance documentation, vendor memos.
  • File intelligence — uploading grading reports and policy documents directly into AI for extraction and analysis.
  • AI tools landscape — when to use ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.
  • Custom GPTs, the GPT Store, and third-party app integrations.
  • AI-powered presentations using Gamma and Canva AI.

The session was demo-heavy with guided practice, ensuring participants applied each concept in real-time.
