View Image option gone from Google.

Have you noticed it? No? Then search an image, you will find a change. Earlier when you clicked on “View Image”, the user got to view the image separately. It was a very convenient way for the users to choose any picture they want and use it for their needs.

Google is the most visited platform for anything we need on the internet. Google serves it all with hardly any efforts done by the user. However, Google has planned a number of changes in the search patterns. The very recent change is removing the “View Image” button.

Criticism from Getty Images is the reason behind this move?

In 2016, a complaint to the European Commission was made by Getty Images. It stated that Google’s image search made it too easy for people to find and use images from Getty without proper attribution.

These two majors have recently joined hands. And, the effects can be easily witnessed.

“This agreement between Getty Images and Google sets the stage for a very productive, collaborative relationship between our companies,” Dawn Airey, CEO of Getty Images, was quoted saying.

What did Google say about axing the “View Image” option?

“Today we’re launching some changes on Google Images to help connect users and useful websites. This will include removing the View Image button. The Visit button remains, so users can see images in the context of the web pages they’re on.” (via tweet)

The step taken seems to be blessing in disguise for the publishers. As now they can earn from the images published on their websites. The website can serve ads to make additional revenue from each visitor.

Google has played it very nicely it seems, as by eliminating View Image it has done a moral thing by protecting the copyright of the Image. Doing this it has also ended all criticism it was facing for making images available so easily.

Yes the publisher’s are happy and so is Google, but what about the addicted users of this features, are the happy?
