Doubtable but true, study reveals online shopping sales are less on mobile apps

Online shoppers prefer mobile apps for searching and comparing products. But are less likely to use it as buying tool,  Asaid Nikolaos , professor at University of East Anglia, UK has revealed.

”Although mobile apps are rapidly becoming a popular option to shop online these days. The phenomenon of shopping cart abandonment — customers leave without completing the transaction. Is much higher than for desktop-based online shopping”, the researchers said.

What could be the possible reasons behind this?

One reason could be that people use mobiles in their leisure time for searching and comparing products. And actual purchase might be done at the work place which usually has desktops or laptops.

The smaller screen size can be a reason as consumers are often unable to see the full picture on a mobile app. There is uncertainty about the product missing some important details. For purchase thus making consumers unsure about completing the transaction as compared to a big screen.

In addition, privacy and security issues on the mobile phones. Is surely a major reason that makes people put items into their shopping baskets but then quit without paying. Trust on new app or websites is a thought of concern for the consumers

This makes it challenging for the online retailers. Who invest heavily in mobile shopping, but are unable to find successful sales. The share of e-commerce traffic from mobile devices has increased to 46 per cent in 2016. However, only 27 per cent of purchases were finalised.
What are companies doing to boost sales through Apps

Major online giants like #Amazon and #Flipkart are promoting a safe and secure app. Which people have started to trust. There are many app exclusive offers that lure consumers to make purchases via apps.

Better connectivity has also helped in people now starting to make purchases online via mobile apps. I’m sure that the online mobile sales will surely increase soon.
