Instagram stories might soon get another platform to share

It seems Facebook is coming up with a new feature. That will allow users to post their Instagram “Stories” directly as WhatsApp Status. As the concept of ‘Stories’ works, these posts that can including photos, videos and GIFs will disappear after 24 hours.

The feature is currently being tested with a small number of users who can post their Instagram Stories directly to WhatsApp, as a WhatsApp Status.

Users get an option to tap to share on WhatsApp from the Instagram sharing screen. Then they still have to press “send” in WhatsApp to post the story as a WhatApp Status.

Earlier Facebook extended the usage of Instagram Stories with a feature. That enabled the user to patch together photos and videos into a slide show and directly post the Story on their Facebook account.

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram. And make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” a Facebook spokesperson said.

Why is Facebook interested in making Instagram Stories more shareable?

Direct access to WhatsApp Status will give an edge to Instagram Stories. Over its rival app Snapchat which has been struggling to compete with Facebook.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced that ‘Instagram Stories’ and ‘WhatsApp Status’ both now have 300 million daily active users. Currently the rival app Snapchat has around 173 million daily active users.

Facebook has been constantly working on how to involve users of one Facebook-owned app. To adapt to another of its owned apps, thus enabling them to share updates on accounts of different apps. Seems to be a good move for them.

WhatsApp Status already has more that 300 million active users. So it is difficult to say whether this move is establish usage of WhatsApp Status, but it surely will add to its already high usage.

This feature is still under trail and is not available to all users, so you will have to wait for an update which is expected soon.
